about

Since studying with Yusef Lateef in the 1990s and beginning his recording career as a featured improviser on one of Lateef's albums, Michael Dessen has consistently garnered critical praise for his imaginative work as a composer-bandleader and trombonist, while forging powerful ties with fellow improvisers in a wide array of settings. Extending the trombone with live sampling and processing has long been part of his music, including four acclaimed releases on Clean Feed Records with his electro-acoustic trio. Dessen has appeared on numerous Accretions recordings including Marcos Fernandes’ Hybrid Vigor, Marcelo Radulovich’s Hello, Jason Robinson’s Tandem, Trummerflora’s Rubble compilations and released Digibone Forest, his solo project in 2019.

Kaoru Mansour is a native of Japan working as a painter and vocalist in Los Angeles since 1985.

G. E. Stinson is a guitarist and founding member of Shadowfax. Inspired by blues masters such as Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters, Stinson experimented with blues, jazz and other musical genres before co-founding Shadowfax in 1974. He remained with the band for six albums. He departed Shadowfax after recording The Odd Get Even (1989), entering the Los Angeles underground music community to refine his 'extended technique' and 'frequency manipulation'. Since then he has worked with a number of musicians on various projects, including Napalm Quartet, Splinter Group, Stinkbug, Metalworkers, Alex De Grassi, Devin Sarno and others.
